im doing a science prodject & i looked it up over & over again

i still dont understand how turtles mate
helpp me??

haha ohh that would make sense

because i had a turtle at one time & i couldnt even tell if it was male or female

They go through a specific courtship ritual to make sure the other one is the right sex and interested. The Red-ear Slider, for example, strokes the female on the cheeks with its long nails.

The male then positions itself on the back rear of the female. Males have incurved shells to help them fit here better.

The male has a longer tail to allow it to slip under the female's shell, and they will line up the opening called the cloaca. Mating goes on pretty normally from that point on.

well right below the male tutles tale is hes u no what. and once he gets erected it gets noticable and if its mating season the female turles wil let the male turtle seduce her. she has a hole under he shell and yeaa thats how they mate.
