Opossums can bite if cornered, but not really dangerous, and they don't carry disease.
Mice are even less dangerous, except that it is possible for a dog or cat to get tapeworm from eating them. Obviously, a lot of cats do eat them, and many dogs do too. Tapeworm would usually be discovered and treated when they get their routine shots.
If you trap them alive, you can relocate theme somewhere more suitable. Local Animal Control or Humane Society may help you with this.

These animals are pretty much harmless. I would worry more about your dog harming them, then them harming your dog. To keep opossums in check..leave NO food, water or garbage outside that might be accessible to them. Keep trash in wildlife proof plastic cans with locking lids. Keep recycling bins indoors until they are to be picked up. Having motion activated lights may help as well to scare the opossums away. You can put out Sherman live traps in your house for the mice. These will not kill the mice but will allow you to remove them from your house and release them outdoors away from your property.

they are in a position to be risky the two animals carry a lot of relatively nasty disease make effective your canines have their photos (rabies for effective) I stay interior the rustic and that i understand what you propose it turns chilly and all of sudden have have all styles of abode and backyard visitors that i in my opinion dont choose. in case your backyard is fenced opossums have in basic terms slightly a confusing time getting into yet they are in a position to nevertheless get in and in case your canines get ahold of one they are in a position to leave some undesirable bites. For the mice batton down the hatched and get traps poison or what ever you're very certainly putting out to maintain them away there are additionally the ulrtasonic instruments then paintings ok yet no longer super desire that helps

Set out traps for the vermin in your house. I wouldn't worry about the animals outside the house. if you don't want them around, get an outside cat. Cats discourage snakes, rats, mice, etc. from living on your property.

Also, some rodents are more likely than other animals to carry diseases such as rabies. As long as you keep your animal's vaccinations up to date, I wouldn't worry too much.

Do you live in a field? If not I would ask the mouse to kindly leave and go back to his field. If you do live in a field, stop moaning the mouse has every right to be there
