Use Brillo brand steel wool pads with the pink soap, the old original, not the blue one. I was raised with aluminum cook ware. The only way to keep it shiny was to use a brillo steel wool pad every time we cleaned it. It will also help prevent food from sticking. Use hot water when washing and rinsing and don't air dry, towel dry. Hope this helps!

Do you towel dry? But really, Aluminum salad bowl? Since most salad dressings are acidic I would not use Aluminium for that. Don't you get a metallic taste?
Besides Aluminum will not stay shiny very long.
