Several problems with the article. There is no "photon belt" and our position in the galaxy will not change appreciably for the next thousand years. The solstice does not align with the galactic center. As I said, it is about 5 or 6 degrees away. No, this isn't something that happens every 13,000 years. It happens *every* year. Now what I have discovered is that the winter solstice is extremely close to the intersection of the ecliptic and the galactic plane, (not center). This is a coincidence and since it happens every year, I don't think we need to get riled about it.
In addition, from the article: the galaxy has no "right hemisphere." Note the disclaimer that all of this won't happen at once. Okay, it won't happen at all.
The 2012 date "serves as the middle doorway in a “tunnel” or wormhole through multidimensional time and space." Sound fishy? Sure, it's babble. It was intended to excuse why this didn't happen at the beginning of the Age of Aquarius but *will* happen in 2024, when Pluto moves into Aquarius. So, again, what does this have to do with 2012?
This idiot describes the last time this happened, 13,000 years ago, (no, it happens every year), and how it ushered in a golden age with the Pyramids, etc. Sorry, that civilization didn't appear until about 9,000 years later. But he glibly states that our dating systems have been proven vastly wrong. No, they haven't. He also thinks the word history comes from "his" "story," a reference to God. If you read on, you see that it is all the same kind of nonsense and double talk. In fact, it seems like the author contradicts himself about four times.

Garbage
I read up on astronomy all the time, as I am a writer and lecturer. There is no talk of this alignment in astronomy circles.
Also the galaxy is so big that to pinpoint the crossign of the plane of the galaxy to a specific day is just stupid. Nobody has that precise measurement, and to believe this stuff is just the result of pop science being able to fool the masses who have little scientific knowledge.
Also from a historic perpsective. The civilisations of Egypt date back 5000 years, certainly nothing like 13,000 years. 13,000 years ago the Earth was still in the grips of the last ice age. The earliest examples of civilisation (first agriculture and first towns) did not happen until the climate settled down after the ice age ended, from about 10,000 years ago onwards.
Don’t be fooled by this garbage. Read real science by real scientists who can quote references and papers.

Don't mean to gang up on you, but KBW3 is correct. This magical alignment of the "summer solstice" and the galactic center happens every year at about the same time. In fact, it happens twice a year, if you count the summer in the Southern Hemisphere. Of course, the guy that wrote this stuff would not know that. He probably does not know where the galactic center is. Well now you do. It's in the Milky Way where it passes through the constellation Sagittarius. It can be seen on any warm summer night by looking toward the southern horizon, directly opposite the sun. In December, it lines up with the sun, so you can't see it. Pretty scary!
Please stop listening to the latest in a long series of charlatans who try to make a fortune (and unfortunately usually succeed) by writing long tirades of total gobbledygook / nonsense to scare and impress people who do not know that they are being deceived by criminals. I give you credit for at least asking the question - most people just believe it and send in their cash.
Consider the source. Good Luck - keep listening, keep reading.

My computer won't let me pull up the site but I have recently seen some documetaries and done a little research on that date. I don't really know what to think will happen that day. SEVERAL different ancient sources and prophecies name that date as being significant in the future of our planet. I have seen several theories stating it as the day of armageddon or the return of Christ. I have seen some that state that it will be the day of ultimate enlightenment. It is the last date listed on the incredibly accurate Mayan calendar. I do know that the sun is due to shift magnetic poles that year which leads to increased sun spots and solar storms and some think the earth's magnetic poles will shift that day also leaving us temporarilly exposed to massive amounts of solar radiation. Also, the sun, moon, and earth will be aligned with the center of the galaxy on that day. Again, I really think it will just be another day, but, who knows, and what else can we really do besides watch and see.

It's trash. There are too many things there which are either complete fabrications or just plain silly that I can't argue against them.
Pleae understand, just because something is on the web doesn't mean it's valid. There's an even chance of the opposite.

This is total nonsense. There is no evidence, either astronomical, archaeological or linguistic, that _anything_ out of the ordinary is going to happen in 2012.
