NO. I knew a girl named Melissa, she thought she was going to be a Rockette, marry an engineer who was going to buy her a $20K + engagement ring, that still lived at home with her mom (way too old to be living with her mom) and her mom was still packing lunch for her. She was ditzy and had her head way too high up in the clouds.
When I think of Melissa, I think of Sweet Melissa (the plant), and that's about where this girl was. Sorry I know that sounds bad, but she really needed a reality check and brought back down to Earth from whatever planet she was hovering around. This could explain a lot since Melissa means bee. I don't really like them buzzing around me either.

I think it is a beautiful name. Its a type of flower and I believe that it means bee. It is a little dated... I knew quite a few Melissas growing up in the 80s and 90s but it is still a nice name nonetheless.

Melissa is lovely and feminine! Before you regret your own name, take a look at some of the ridiculous names on Yahoo Answers--Baby Names that people are trying to pass off as unique and clever (I don't need to give examples, I hope!)
That should make you feel grateful for your own name!
The name I use isn't my given name, but chosen from scripture. It means something special to me.
Enjoy the beauty of your name! Peace.

It's a pretty name, but I know several people who have it. It's fairly common. Thats why I don't like my name, it's extremely common. But unless you want to shell out the big bucks to change it, I think you are pretty much stuck. Nicnames help.

Always too common as in almost a million people have always had it at one given time period. Same with any other name that comes to mind. As for niceness, if it was never heard of before, it would qualify as unique and pretty. But it does not anymore so don't even consider it!
