Well, as a European I must admit that I was kind of shocked how much hatred some people included in their answers to this question.
I don`t think many Americans are aware that over here we face a similar "problem" - but not only with one group of people (in your case mostly latinos), but many illegal immigrants from Africa and kind of a wave from eastern Europe - which has become worse since most of the borders are open now. So there are a lot of extremly different cultures coming together in the richer parts of Europe, many of those people do not have the slightest idea what is really going on here and have lived a kind of life, which is far more primitive than in Mexico or Cuba.
I know that a lot of people here also dislike the kind of change in our societies, but I can totally understand why the immigrants try to build a new life in the US or western Europe. Everyone should be entitled to a life that include at at least the basic needs and we "rich" nations should better try to help instead of shutting our borders down. I`m sure that most people would rather stay in their home country, but have no choice, because they want a better future for their families.
And historically the US is a nation of immigrants - many of you are probably the decendants of people, who came to America searching for a better life...Irish, Italian, Germans, Swedes, Poles and many more. Think about what would have happened to your ancestors when the people and government in the US would have acted like today 100 years ago. And one more thing: Of course many immigrants are working far below minimum wages (and pay no taxes, which isn`t too outrages at an income of 3$ or less per hour), but be honest: How many Americans/Western Europeans are really willing to work in the fields, as a maid or doing the real hard duties in hotels? In a survey in Germany last year, 90 percent of the asparagus farmers preferred harvest workers from Poland, because they were used to this kind of job, while most others gave up after a day or two!
I`m sure that this reply will earn masses of thumbs down, but I don`t care - I just had to state my opinion after all I read!

I don't think hate is the preferred word in this. I think they are frowned upon more than anything. I suppose from the way that you spell and speak that you are asking because you or someone you know is an illegal immigrant. Coming into this country illegal, in other words without permission, not only puts illegal immigrants at a disadvantage but the American public as well.
From the American standpoint, illegal immigrants come into our country and take jobs at lower wages than Americans therefore they take work away from American workers. They do not pay taxes but are able to use our facilities such as hospitals. Illegal immigrants also are not under our laws because legally they are not supposed to be here.
On the one hand, they can commit crimes and all that is done to them is they are sent back home only to illegally cross the border again back into our country to do it again so they aren't punished like a citizen would be.
On the other hand, they are not provided the protections that American citizens are. In other words they have no rights and technically they don't exist. Crimes can happen to them without anyone being punished because they are not even supposed to be here. It is in their best interest to come legally.
There is also the issue of the language barrier that exists between two completely different cultures. The primary language in America is English and most illegal immigrants cannot speak English. If a crime happens to them a translator has to come in and translate everything they say if something bad happens to them and the same if they commit a crime against an american citizen.
Illegal immigrants are also not familiar with American law therefore they are more prone to getting into trouble with the law and causing mischief than American citizens who can speak and read English and know the law.
It is has nothing to do with hate. It has to do with different cultures, value systems and logic. Logically if you start out with something that is illegal it is not going to have a good ending period. That is why the laws are there. It is to protect both sides not just one.
Illegal immigrants cause a lot of problems they probably aren't even aware of because they don't know about economy and all those technical things or don't care if they do know and understand them. When they illegally cross the border they don't think about anyone but themselves therefore they have a disregard for the general population as a whole because that is selfish.

1. Because they add to traffic congestion when they drive their cars. In Houston, there was one or a few days where the illegal immigrants did not go to work to show their effect on the Houston economy. However, that day there was no traffic problems and I got to work pretty fast.
2. Maybe some people don't like the fact they can work without having to pay taxes.
3. Some believe that illegals shouldn't be able to send their kids to public school for free.
4. Some believe that illegals take advantage of free hospital and healthcare.
5. Some people are upset that many illegals have babies born in the US, resulting in automatic citizenship for their newborns (ie, anchor babies). Once the child reaches 18, they can petition for their parents to be US citizens.

it extremely is (quickly) legitimate each physique loses. The lawful American citizen loses through fact as quickly as lower back the gov't has thoroughly FAILED, to do what they're charged to do. yet another knife interior the decrease back of the yank taxpayers. The unlawful loses, sure they do lose through fact some will beleive that they now have the fairway gentle to do despite the fact that they choose, on each occasion and the place ever they choose. One much less deturant for them to stay and make their abode united states (overwhelmingly mexico) a greater appropriate place to stay. extremely they are going to come right here, burden the tax payer, decrease wages, decrease the commonplace of preparation, drugs and social centers. they are going to stay exploited mutually as they income from the taxpayer. I don't hate them either. I understand that America is the greatest country in the world, and everyone wants to come here. But do it legally, and don't expect to be treated the same as a citizen or a legal immigrant if you came here illegally. Especially with regards to public assistance and health care.

For starters they don't pay taxes in many cases yet they use the facilities. i.e. hospitals, schools, roads, government assistance, etc.
Many of them will not try to learn the language so Americans must learn there language.
We must now print most instructions, brochures, etc. in numerous languages. Just another added expense.
They should come here legally and they will be accepted.

You tell me why they are here, exactly, to find a better life, spongers, and its our taxes that are paying for them to be housed, and use our medical srevices, they have the cheek to ask for our benefits, too which they have not contributed to and should not be entitled too. Take uk jobs, when they not even supposed to be in the country. They come here illigally so that on its own says they should not be here. Do you understand why now.

I don't hate them. I just hate the fact that they can do something illegal and the worst thing that happens is they get sent home. Not fair!
If I robbed a bank that wouldn't happen to me.
Illegal is illegal. You cant rob a bank any more than you can steal the right to be American.

The ones in my area are a problem not because they take jobs and that, but because they speak Spanish to everyone, and instead of learning English, they expect everyone else to learn Spanish.
