People still use "passbooks"?
Obviously the answer is that people CAN do just about anything, and they do it all the time. It is so disturbing, I was asking about establishing an alternate identity for online business in order to insulate me from identity theft. I was told that was fraud--which stopped ME from doing it. Nonetheless, identity theives regularly fraudulently impersonate others and take money or property in such. I was at a fast food restaurant recently where I just bought a meal with my debit card, which showed my name. Then I was asked my name, and said "Fred", which was not the name on the card. It didn't phase the clerk at all, not making the connection. The next time there, I said I was "Ed" to a different clerk, but the first one was there nearby and said, "I thought your name was Fred?" It wasn't either, I said, while waving my card with a smile, "Thanks for not advertising my real name when you call it." If someone isn't watching, yep, all sorts of things can happen.
