3.8 - 4.7 = 3.8y + 17.5
-0.9 = 3.8y + 17.5
-17..5 both sides
-18.4 = 3.8y
divide by 3.8 both sides
y = -4.84 to 2 decimal places

just add like terms and solve for y

3.8 - 4.7 = 3.8y + 17.5
-0.9 = 3.8y + 17.5
-18.4 = 3.8y
y = -4.824210526

correct because you would end up with 0y=22.2
22.2/0= undefined or no solution when you move the 3.8y to the other side they equal to 0

3.8y - 4.7=3.8+17.5

First add 3.8 and 17.5. That gives us 21.3
So we have 3.8y - 4.7=21.3

Now add 4.7 to each side to cancel.
We now have 3.8y=26

Now divide 3.8 by each side.
we get y=6.84
