my parents are both about 50, and i no longer live at home and they have helped me hugely in moving out recently. I was hoping to do something nice for them.

When my daughter moved out and had no money she made us gifts.
She made me 2 necklaces out of hemp twine and beads. They are real pretty. There are so many beads at craft stores and they have all the clasps and what you need. You can customize the jewelry to her liking and wardrobe.
She also gave me some highlighter markers that I use for word search puzzels.
I can't remember what she gave her dad.

Well, sorry I just thought of something...........
You could take 12 great photos from this year and put them on the computer, if you already have some on there, you could make a calendar with a photo on each month. It would cost you nothing but the cost of the paper when you print it out. There is a way to make calendar pages, but of course I don't know that.

Invite them round to dinner on for one of the evenings between Christmas day and new years eve; if you are a terrible cook then let Marks and Spencer's come to your rescue but I would imagine that they would appreciate your efforts more; keep the menu simple and tasty and serve it up with a decent wine...not an expensive one..something like Merlot (red) or est, est, est!(white) or even a bottle of pink or white Cava,demi-sec unless you all like your wine dry.
You can explain to them that you wanted to show them how much you appreciate all their help and that this seemed like a good way.and of course you can make a really pretty invitation card to actually give them on Christmas day.
By the time your parents are in their fifties they pretty much have the things they want, especially the less expensive ones and it all gets very frustrating but if the first idea doesn't suit you, why not take a look at the Wedgwood shop, the Wedgwood factory's own shop, on EBay UK? They have some beautiful items at discount prices and they are all perfect, no seconds!

Do you know if They have those fold up chairs that go into a carrying case that everyone takes to the 4th of July fireworks? You're on a budget and I think you can get these for $10.00 each, sometimes less....How about two huge fluffy bath towels in their colors or just white or a gift certificate to your local movie theater that you put in a beautiful Christmas Card or a gift certificate to the "Olive Garden Restaurant" or any restaurant of your choice and budget.....A beautiful picture frame with a picture in it of you and them....and in the card say "so you don't forget me" MERRY CHRISTMAS

Parents are always hard, but really, they don't want you to spend a lot of money on them. They are more established, you are just starting out. So, something small is great!

Do they like gardening or fresh herbs?
How about an indoor herb garden?

Do they need a night out?
Gift certificate for restaurant or movie (or both if you can afford it)

Do they like yummy candies?
Make them some homemade goodies and send them along.

Do they love you? (OF COURSE!)
Send them a picture of you with them in a pretty frame.

Well, If you want something cheap, go on ebay, Place a bid, And get lucky =D
What to buy them is a pretty personal thing, That we cannot really tell you, But it depends on how much of a budget you are on, But you cant go wrong with a dvd or two, Perhaps a book if they are into them, Or something along those lines

Haha, sorry, it just made me laugh that you said 'i never leave it this late'.
I havent even started thinking about it yet!
It would help if you mentioned your parents age.

why not give them a gift certificate for a romantic dinner together. You could be the chef and get your brothers out of the house for an evening.

i guess u could let your friends help u and maybe your friends parents. i think your friends parents would help because they know more than we do about Christmas "parent shopping". i guess u could also tell your mom what your dad wants and i guess she knows more since she is his wife and i guess u could ask your dad what your mom wants and he could help u. both ways r good.

best of luck!!! see ya later!!! :)

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
