Really? And what did you hear about how they plan to manage that? Oh, I guess by praying to Allah!

I agree with hockeyho...
Such an event is simply beyond current technology, and even a bunch of full-scale nuclear bombs drilled to the exact depths would not make a world-wide quake.
Many of the faults that will crack are under mountains, or deep under the sea. No convenient place to set one off, nor a lot of bombs big enough lying conveniently around.
So, no worry yet. Just need to keep those who are linked in terror away from nuclear material, and for other than this far-out potential!
I think you would find that someone of unknown origin surveying the New Madrid Fault, for example, and drilling holes miles deep all along it, would attract attention, even before bribing enough people to allow the bombs in!!
What we DO need to worry about is the inaction currently about the 3 asteroids Astronomers HAVE found that have good potential to hit the earth and/or moon, in 20-30 years. One of those hitting the earth head on will make much more than a Richter 8.5 earthquake. Doubt we have a Richter number big enough to assign to a 50 mile asteroid hitting the earth at 50 miles a second!
One hitting the moon might make the moon hit the earth, or carom off into space causing the tide to quit and killing most life in the oceans.
But if we get serious at saving the earth, rather than dabbling at Global Warming, for which there is a proven cheap and easy solution already, just not the one that gives power and money to certain people, we will get the nations to cooperate in getting enough power into space to determine the exact course of the asteroids and to use enough of our stockpiled bombs to nudge their orbits into the sun safely past the earth so they cease being a menace.
I understand a concerted effort amongst nations likely can do it, but if we are fighting all over, the righteous and infidels and the indifferent and the unknowing will all likely perish together!
And moving an asteroid away is NOT something you can do in a few days...has to be planned and started years in advance. Man is pretty puny compared to even a relatively small asteroid!

Al-Qaeda cant cause earth quakes and it could never be worldwide since there are no faults that cover this large an area. You have been reading too much science fiction lately.

I would be surprised if they could pull something like that off. I'm not worried about the earthquake thing, no.

C'mon, it's Al-Qaeda, not Cobra. They can't cause earthquakes.
If you're really worried about it, I recommend that you run in circles, screaming, and flailing your arms above your head.
