I have a Grand Cherokee with a leaking t-case. I have found out that it is coming from the back of the case, where it goes out to the rear driveshaft. Is it serious or minor? Is this a problem with the gasket/seal (if so, what is the gasket called), or is it something bigger?

If it is leaking from around the shaft at the rear of the transfer case, then it is most likely nothing more than a seal, the seals are cheap, sometimes the labor is intensive though

Sounds like the tail shaft seal is leaking where the driveshaft slides into the T-case. Remove rear driveshaft and replace the tailshaft seal. It should take about 20-30 mins. with the right tools.
