You're going to have to distribute the X across to make the equation x^2 + 1*10^-8(x) = 1*10^-14, then subtract 1*10^-14 to set it equal to zero, now you have a quadratic so plug it into the quadratic equation, you probably wont be able to factor it too easily...

ok so you will want to solve whats in the paranthesis first!
(x + 1*10^-8) which will turn out to be (x + 0.00000001)
so our problem should now look like this

>(x + 0.00000001)(x)=1*10^-14
>now we multiply
>x*x = x
>0.00000001*x = 0.00000001x
>now add 1x to 0.00000001x
>which should be 1.00000001x
>our problem should now look like so
>1.00000001x = 0.00000000000001
>Lets solve 1*10^-14
>which is 0.00000000000001
> The problem now looks like
>1.00000001x = 0.00000000000001
>now divide 1.00000001 from both sides

I feel I have done this completely wrong as I have no Idea what "^" actually means, but I did the problems in the steps I was taught all you have to do is finish up where I left off for the answer.
Sorry If it is wrong.

2^(x-3) = 17/5 x-3 = log(3.4)/log(2) x = log(3.4)/log(2) + 3 the only way that i understand of to clean up this without using a calculator is to scrupulously graph the two facets of the unique equation. In different words, graph y = 5*2^(x-3) and y = 17. One has to %. user-friendly values for x and to be very meticulous in graphing. The intersection of the two graphs stands out as the answer, regardless of the undeniable fact which you heavily isn't waiting to get an rather precise answer, because of the fact the answer seems to be an irrational style.

x^2+10^-8*x-10^-14=0
us 2nd degree formula
x=(( -10^-8 +-sqrt( 10^-16+4*10^-14))/2= -10^-8+-(10^-8*sqrt(1+400))/2 = 1/2*10^-8[ -1+-sqrt(401]
Without a caculatorsqrt401 =20
so you get 1/2*10^-8*(-21) and 1/2*10^-8*19

x^2 + 10^-8x = 10^-14
x^2 +10^-8x - 10^-14 = 0
Plug it into the on-line calculator at the site below.

The answers are:
x = 9.5215*10^-8, -1.0512*10^-7
