If they are growing in an area where you won't mind a prolific return then don't do anything to them at all. If you want to try and stifle their return then pick the seed pods and discard before they open. I have never had a problem with my morning glories and I love them. I wish they would spread, but so far they have stayed on the only fence I planted them on. So if you love them and want more then just let them be.
Good Luck

Rip out as many as you can - these are insidious plants that will sprout on concrete if given the chance. Ditto on the earlier answer of keeping your eye out for seed pods and eliminating them. Pretty, but not worth the trouble.

Mine was super out of control and i hacked it down to the original size it was when i bought it. My boyfriend thought it was dieing but its not, Its growing all over the place again. Now I keep an eye on it and trim it regularly.
