Oxyclean and a good shop-vac.
Get the powder form of Oxyclean.
Vacuum your carpet before starting the process outlined below.
1. Mix two scoops of Oxclean and 1 gallon of warm water.
2. Thoroughly soak the offending area with the solution. (Make sure it soaks the pad underneath the carpet, too.)
3. Massage--yes, massage--the solution into the offending area.
4. Let sit for 5 minutes.
5. Vacuum it up with a Shop-Vac.
Cleaned AND Neutralized!
Spray the rest of your-upholstery with Fabreeze if you'd like. (Not necessary but assures your nose that your car is clean,)

You may want to get the inside of your car professionally detailed... However, if the car mats are removeable.. You could wash them at home... Using some dish soap or laundry detergent and a heavy scrub brush... Hose off the mats add a small amount of detergent and work into mats with scrub brush... Rinse with hose... Hang or lay flat to dry.. .Or suck up excess water with a wet/dry vac.. Or you can just buy all new floor mats pretty cheap.... You can even get a box or two of baking soda put in a empty plastic container with some holes punched in the top to absorb the smell.. Just leave them under the seat.. That will also absorb the odors.. Without using a perfume. Good luck

Clean the carpet again. Then use febreeze or get some vanilla air freshner. The frebreeze neutralizes the odors and the vanilla soaks up the odors so you can just leave the windows down some for fresh air every now and then. We smoke. We found that vanilla really does soak up the bad odor of the cigarettes and gets rid of it. The vanilla pretty much works on anything except urine.

Try Natures Miracle...buy at Petco, ot Petsmart...it will neutralize the odor by acting on the residual protein in the stain. Dont soak the area, but wet it and then let sit about 30 mins and blot up with paper towel. Might take a couple applications.

i agree with the guy who says the smell is coming from under the carpet. lft the carpets and clean under them. also, since it was a protein shake, you could try a product designed for pet odors. most of those have something that breaks down enzymes.

Probably get your carpets shampooed by a professional car detailer. The products they use to shampoo carpets have ionizers in them that trap and kill odors. Explain to them about the odor and what it came from and they should be able to remove it for you.

First step would be to roll down windows and open doors. Second, if you can stand the odor, investigate where the scent is coming from and if you can't find it. The next step would be contact to your local carpet cleaning.

So funny that you asked this question!! I am getting ready to go search my car because there's a stench in there that I can't figure out what it is. It has to be food or something my daughter left in there.
I would suggest getting your carpets professionally shampooed.

Keep your windows down for a couple of hours so the scent can go and then try the refreshners you hang up in the car, youre trapping the smell when the windows are up.
