Whisk[e]y straight, not even chilled, but I'll also drink the cheaper ones mixed with soda (usually golden ginger ale) or even milk for a change of pace. My Irish (or Scotch) can also be in coffee.
I prefer the taste of ethanol (grain alcohol) to methanol (wood alcohol), so I don't drink diet soda. If I want something sugar-free, I'll drink seltzer or club soda.
One thing I've never tried is straight 200 proof, but I've seen it done, followed immediately with a full glass of water as a chaser! (That was in my hippie days.)
