Unless he is showing to you that he is still wanting to drink after those two ozs., then don't increase it. He will increase as he does so desire. Every baby is different so there is really no say on how much or little he should drink. Sometimes though you have to be careful because they will cry when they are done but only because he still wants that sucking action. Try giving him a paci and see if that helps, if he spits it out, he may want more, but don't give him any extra than one oz at a time. At his age he shouldn't be drinking more than 3 ozs at a sitting. Remember that his tummy is only as big as his fist. That should help you judge a little better. As for how many times per day...every 3 to 4 hours is good. You're doing good with that. That will be the case for another good month or so. At about 2 1/2 months you will probably be able to knock it back to 4-5 hrs. because he will be taking in more at that point in time. BUT if he is wanting to drink 6 ozs at 2 1/2 months every 4-5 hrs., you need to keep him at 4 ozs max and increase your intervals back to every 2-3 hrs. Good luck. Having a new baby is very stressful! Don't worry. You're doing ok!!

My baby boy drinks about 3-4 oz per feeding of Gentlease Formula. Hes about 2 1/2 weeks old & it seems to be just enough for him. If you feel that 2 oz isn't enough from him, the thing to do would be to gradually add an oz to his feeding & see how he takes it. Every child is different so its ultimatly up to him/her. My advice would be to add little each time to see how much of it he/she will actually drink. At about 3-4 months they will have worked their way up to about 6 oz, or a whole bottle of milk.

When he's still hungry after 2 ounces, it is time to up it. He will let you know when it's time. No two babies eat exactly the same. If he's taking 2 ounces that quickly, I would offer him 4 and see how he does. Feed on demand, not on schedule.

Usually 4 ounces every 3 hours or so.

My son drank 4 ounces every 4 hours, pretty much from the time he was born. I thought it was too much. My mother-in-law (who's a pediatric nurse) and Mom both said to let him drink it if he wanted. He would spit up whatever didnt fit. Just make a bigger bottle.

every baby is different. let him be the best judge, he will stop when full, and cry when hungry.
An average is about 3oz every 3-4 hours, but some are hungrier more often.
Ask your pediatrician to be sure, or if you get WIC for him, they will let you know also.

As much as they want as often as they want. Babies do not overeat.
