The 90's was ALOT tougher then what these MJ haters try to betray it as. Personally I think that the 90's was as tough as the 80's and ALOT tougher then it is NOW! Here is some examples:

What is the most valuable position in basketball? The center. I could name at least 5 centers in the 90's that's better then any center of today.

1. Shaquille O'neal (prime)
2. Patrick Ewing
3. Hakeem The Dream
4. David Robinson
5. Alonzo Mouring (prime)

All of these guys were in their prime in the 90's with GREAT teams build around them. MJ simply played in a era of great big men and still dominated without even having a great big man. Now if that's not tough then I don't know what is. Here is another 90's question. If the 90's were so weak then why coudn't these GREAT players win in the 90's?

1. Shaquille O'neal (who has dominated this era)
2. Karl Malone
3. Kobe Bryant
4. Magic Johnson
5. Larry Bird
6. Charles Barkley
7. Patrick Ewing
8. John Stockton

Any debates?

BTW, Kobe is the only scrub on that lis of 8. He's not GREAT! I was just taking a shot at Kobe haters who diss on MJ. They think that Kobe is so great but he couldn't win in MJ's era.

Well Last I checked Magic was playing with Worthy in the
91 finals, Barkley Kj were in 93 finals, Malone Stockton
in the 98 finals. And Chicago had to go thru Shaq and
Ewing to get to the finals. And Hakeem was still in
the league palying great. I think the haters are Just
that Haters. Magic/Laker Fans that hated seeing
Magic lose in the finals and Jordan pass him as the
best.

Critics of MJ, trashed the 1990's because they're basically comparing every team during this period to the 1980 Lakers and Celtics. I don't think many teams in history can measure up to that pedestal. It's just getting ridiculous when critics use these Hall of Famer loaded Laker's & Celtic's teams to downplay what the Bulls have accomplished during the 1990's. Winning a championship has never been an easy task and I don't care which era a team wins it in. Every year the competition gets better and when you're the defending champs, every team will be out there gunning for you. It's not only hard to repeat (just ask the San Antonio Spurs, the Miami Heat, and the current Detroit Pistons) but it's even harder to 3-peat. The 1990's era had arguably one of the best group of centers (Olajuwon, Ewing, Robinson, Mourning, and Shaq) that should rival any era. It's tough enough trying to score against teams with these intimidating presence but it's even tougher trying stop these dominating centers from scoring but the Bulls (without the presence of a game-changing center) accomplished it in a very convincing fashion. But like I said, if you're constantly comparing every team in the league to the Bird-McHale-Parish Celtics or the Magic-Worthy-Kareem Lakers - it can make any era look bad. Just my 2 cents.

My only question is, who said the 90's were weak? The only thing tough was a team other then the Bulls winning a Title, but the Rockets did what they had to do when MJ retired the 1st time and the Spurs ever since MJ left the Bulls the 2nd time.
Center is almost a forgotten position in the NBA now, its all about tall shooting guards, small forwards and power forwards. The 90's were tuned to the point guards and centers. With so many tall guards/forwards and rule changes hard for any true center to be dominate like in the past.
MJ didn't need a great center because he had Pippen with either Grant/Rodman at PF.

The 90's was weak because of the inordinate number of expansion teams that joined the NBA diluted the talent pool in that era. But seriously, era is not important.

I keep hearing voices, ever since the 90s I keep
hearing voices. Someone is in my head. I keep
hearing Jordan Jordan. I think I love Jordan.
But I am a hater, I can't admit he is the greatest.
How do I get Jordan out of my head. He has
gotten in my head. God I need a Shrink. I need
to get Jordan out of my head.
