speed = distance / time

distance = 2350 km
time = 3 ¼ hours = 3.25 hours

speed = 2350 / 3¼ km /h
speed = 9400 / 13 km / h
speed = 723.1 km / h (to 1 dec. place)

The 3.25 is three hours and 15 minutes (15 is one quarter of 60).
rate = distance/time
r=2350/3.25
r=723
The plane flew at an average of 723 kilometers per hour.

An hour is made up of 60 minutes. 15 minutes is one quarter hour or .25 of an hour. when you write something in decimal form it is per hundred. Minutes are only per 60. so write out the equation
x/100=15/60
cross multiply
15 times 100=60x
1500=60x
1500/60=x
25=x
x is now per hundred, so..
x=25/100 or .25
