Sn = (n/2)[2a + (n - 1)d]

where a = the first term in the series, and d is the difference between them, therefore:

Here, a = 1, d = 1, n = 700.

S700 = (700/2)(2 + 699)
S700 = 350(701)
S700 = 245,350

1+700 = 701
2+699 = 701
3+698 = 701
There are 350 such pairs of 701
So sum = 350*701 = 245,350
The formula is S = n(n+1)/2 where n is the last number
