Sometimes that's the only way a person is going to have a baby, and they end up paying a surrogate.

They don't pay 50,000. The most I've heard of is $10,000, and that's if the surrogate is in perfect health, etc. Women who are surrogate mothers for pay are also doing it to help someone out. They go through emotional screening before they are accepted by a company that deals with surrogates. If you read-up a little on the reasons why women choose to be surrogates, you will see that they aren't just doing it for the money.

It's been done for thousands of years. Do you remember the Old Testament story of Abraham and Sara and Sara's handmaiden?

Is it right? I am conflicted about it. On one hand, I could never carry a baby and then give it away. On the other hand, if I were unable to have my own child, how blessed I would be to have the gift of life from another woman's womb.

Should someone pay for a baby? It's just money, right?

I don't have anything against it. It's a win win situation.
One side gets the baby they want and the other side is compensated for carrying the baby - which is a pretty hard job and deserves compensation,
