Did you ever see the movie, "The Fuller Brush Man" starring Red Skelton? It was a great. :)

Goldwing...I agree with you. To my surprise, just after I moved to South Carolina last year, I went to the Tanger Outlet Mall, & found a Fuller Brush store. I had to take a second look. I thought I misread the sign. I didn't go in but will next time.

P.S. Goldwing...maybe there's a website for FB that will alllow you to order some hair brushes. :)

Scooter...The brushes are made of Natural Boar bristles, & some of the brushes are now made of acrylic. I just went online & ordered a FB catalog. Can't wait to get it. :)

Oh yes...remember those little round wooden-handled veggie brushes for scrubbing carrots & 'taters, always a gift even when you didn't by anything from the FB guy. Their hairbrushes were the best - real wooden handles, real boar bristles, - you only needed to buy them once for everyone in the family--I took mine to college & kept it another several years after that.

Remember who else came to the door--milkman, bread man, veggie man [he parked along the curb and all the ladies went out to shop], knife-grinder--and laundry was picked up by someone in a blue van, and so was the dry-cleaning...city life had some real advantages, everything came by! But then so did all the folks you didn't need to see, like Electrolux, encyclopedia salesman, and the various spiritual groupies with pamphlets & prayer to share.

My Mother's stuff went to my sister when she passed away. My sister still has several of my Mom's brushes from the FB man. My Dad used to work for Electrolux in Azusa, California, They were so heavy to drag around too. About the only thing that lasted a long time that I can remember were Levi's. They were made out of hemp and cotton and lasted for years. Wish they still made them that way today.

Now you are talking quality! They made things to last which isn't politically correct anymore . The consumerism giant is responsible for all the crap we get today! Remember crimpalene fabric. It never wore out and you can't get it anymore either. I used to have a Fuller Brush Lady come to the house in the 70's and we would order what we wanted and she would bring it in about two weeks. Their cleaning products were good too.

My aunt sold Fuller brushes if I remember right. And Red Skelton was one of my favorites.Things were made to last in those days.I even have my first hair dryer from the 70's and it still gets used.

Yes, I remember. I still buy brushes and I buy the fuller brush mop. It is heavy. Can't find a good full mop anymore but from Fuller Brush. Of course they don't come to the door anymore. But neither does the milkman or the dry cleaners.

I remember the Fuller Brush Man and several others your responders mentioned. Now all we get are Jehovahs witnesses. No offense just stating facts. We dont get anyone at our house except them these days.

An uncle of my first husband was the Fuller brush man in our territory. Come to think of it, probably still have one around here somewhere. They last forever.

Yes, in the BROWN truck. I often think of Mr. Walters (my grandma's Fuller Brush man) when I see the UPS trucks.
