It was because all the kids in his school were afraid of his cousin Dudley! They knew that Dudley wouldn't like it if they picked Harry first!

For one everyone knew Dudley hated him and would pick on them if they had anything to do with him so even the people who might have been friends with Harry were scared off by Dudley. He was also skinny and not very athletic looking, and definitely not popular.

Because his cousin, Dudly Dursly, would beat up anyone who would pick Harry. Harry was also small and skinny, looking even more so wearing Dudleys old clothes.

Never really went through that scenario in elementary. Usually in the middle if that. Never last. As an adult weekend warrior playing with some blokes from church (futbol), my performance is so mercurial that I'm always either first or last. Weird! It's all about impressions. They stick for about a week, apparently.

He was small and skinny. So he wouldn't be a good addition to the team anyway.

But the main reason was if they picked him, they would be showing favor towards him, and inviting Dudley's wrath. No one wanted to be beat up for picking Harry, he wasn't a good enough of a player for that.

Two reasons: First, Harry was small and thin. Second, no one wanted Dudley to think they liked Harry--Dudley might beat them up.

He was fast, but he was never picked because they feared that Dudley would think they liked Harry and he would beat them up. I can't remember where he says it, but he's talking about it in reference to being sorted and being scared that he wouldn't get picked :)

just a lack of popularity, he always had to wear his cousins old clothes(that never fit him) Dudley also convinced all the other kids that Harry was a freak and a looser. remember that they are the same age
