The garden witch says that you have a choice of plagues for your plants. Do you choose slugs or snails?

I vote snails because I know they are easy to get rid of. Shallow dish of stale beer and glug glug glug-they're gone!

Well, I would respond by saying that it doesn't make a bit of difference. Slugs are just shelless snails.

Snails....without a doubt. They are easier to spot and your hands never have to touch the slimy part, making them much easier to grab and place in soapy water.

Snails (escargot) are edible. Both easily controllable tho.
