I'm 20 y.o. and have been getting my period for about 7 years now and I have never really felt any pain (please don't hate me) besides a little little bit of cramps, if anything. What does this mean? My friend told me that it means I will have a very painful pregnancy....please say it ain't so!

It just means that you are very lucky. For a lot of women some months are painful and then others aren't. Pregnancy can be painful anyways (especially the labor pains) but I don't think you can determine how bad your labor pains are going to be based on the fact that you don't hurt when you have your periods.

As the others have said, yes lucky.
You see, it is not natural to have all these horrible symptoms that other females have. People on a healthful natural diet do not have these symptoms. Many of my friends from Japan who were raised on a very healthful diet only have a little cramping, and that's it. Those I know from the same country that do not have a good diet, have all the same symptoms that femamles from N. America typically have. Bloating, cramping, too much blood flow, cranky, irritable, and basically are sick. Many women feel horrible for three weeks out of the month and actually only feel well for one week per month. Not normal, but unfortunately, it is *usual*.

See, eating something today, can affect one's period three weeks from now. If you are eating the typical N. American diet of junk food etc. then you are lucky. But if you are a pretty healthy person in your diet and lifestyle, then perhaps it's not luck after all. Perhaps, you just do not have the symptoms. Many people have sicknesses yet show no symptoms -- yet this does not mean they are not sick.

Painful pregnancy? That sounds like a silly myth for sure. All births are painful. No pain giving birth is rare.

One has nothing to do with the other. There is no way to predict what pregnancy is going to be like based on whether or not you have a painful period. You can't even predict what things are going to be like as you get older.

I never had pain or mood swings or even much in the way of cramps from my period. I loved being pregnant and had no excessive pain or even any morning sickness. Don't expect that just because you have it easy now, you will have problems later. It's not true, unless that is, you create a self-fulfilling prophecy by working yourself into a panic over all the pain you will have. Don't worry about it. It sounds as though your friend is jealous.

just be thankful that you don't face the menstrual pain other women face! i'm 15 and for four years (got mine at 11) i never felt any cramps..i didn't even know what was the reason was for birth control pills (reduce cramping pain). but this year, my periods have been hell...

my point is, just be happy right now that you aren't in pain! and don't worry about your pregnancy because your friend probably had cramping during her normal periods...how would she know? was she in the same situation as you? or did she have painful cramping like other women? she can't justify the pain from two different types of women with different mentrual situations. it doesn't make sense. either way-when any women is pregnant, it's going to hurt!

:] i hope this helps!

One doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the other. Research has shown that different people experience pain differently. What is nothing to you could have me on my knees or vice versa. Could be that the pain your labor and delivery, like your period, could be no big deal to you. Or it could be that you just don't suffer the painful cramps most of us do during your period so when you go into labor, it's going to be worse than anything you have ever expected.

Either way, when you are ready to be a mom, that precious little person will be worth any amount of pain.

Some people just do not experience the same level of discomfort. I am a lucky one too. So is my Mom. And she did not think that her pregnancies were hard. They were 'normal' she said. Not a lot of morning sickness. She thinks it may be linked to the lack of intense hormones at that time. But apparently that same lack can make it harder to get a keep a pregnancy (she had three miscarriages and a loss of a twin in utero). So, I don't know what will happen with me. But there is not much you can do about it by worrying, right? :)

You are very lucky! Everyones body reacts differently and different people have higher pain thresholds. I only have my period for 3 days every month and have for my whole life, people look at me funny since most have periods for 5-7 days on average :) Be thankful you are not in pain

Actually, the blood is from the lining of the uterus shedding after the egg has been released but not fertilized. A woman gets a period every month, unless she is pregnant. A period can also be the punctuation at the end of the sentence-->.

I never had cramps either and yes pregnancy was painful because I wasn't use to cramps so I didn't know what to expect.
