This was my attempt. I got stuck..

The correct answer should be x + ( (x-2)/(x^2 - 1) )

quotient is x and remainder is x-2

so x^3-2/x^2-1 = x + (x-2)/x^2-1)

If you use long division

x^3+0*x^2+0*x-2 /( x^2-1)
-x^3 +x ( x )quotient
_______________
( x -2 )remainder so
x^3-2= x+ (x-2)/x^2-1)
