my male friend is terrible for getting in contact hes always more than happy doing stuff with me but its normally me who has to phone him to do stuff like in work i ask him to the canteen or when he wants me to go over his place he asks me to phone him

heh....yeah. don't take it personally. i have a couple of male friends who never call b/c they are afraid i'll say no. plus, they can be downright lazy! :)
if both of you can live with it this way, i wouldn't make it a big deal.

my male buddy is the very similar-yet he thinks its him ringing me each and every of the time cos if hes busy when I ring him i tell him to ring me back. and as for attempting to get him to pick to lunch..
