Hope is the last lingering light of the human heart. It shines when every other is put out. Extinguish it, and the gloom of affliction becomes the very blackness of darkness--cheerless and impenetrable.
- James H. Aughey
The sun goes on shining because it is just being itself... It is living its purpose. Stop it from doing that and it won't be the sun as we know it anymore...
Continue being a "sun"... Let the world bask in your radiance... engulf people in your warmth... live... shine... and know that you are inspiring others, giving joy and hope and touching lives just by being yourself. :)

Think of the sun as a nuclear furnace. The temperatures and materials at the various layers change, but over all, it's a nuclear furnace. One day the fuels needed for the process will all be used up. The intense gravity that holds it together will weaken. The sun will slowly cool, lose brightness, and begin to expand as it comes apart from decreased gravity. We know this from watching the end of life with other stars in our galaxy. The good news is, that shouldn't happen for another 5 billion years.

When I saw the question, it reminded me of this song:
Why does the sun go on shining?
Why does the sea rush to shore?
Don't they know it's the end of the world,
`cause you don't love me anymore?
Why do the birds go on singing?
Why do the stars glow above?
Don't they know it's the end of the world?
It ended when I lost your love.
I wake up in the morning and I wonder why ev'rything's the same as it was.
I can't understand, no I can't understand, how life goes on the way it does!
Why does my heart go on beating?
Why do these eyes of mine cry?
Don't they know it's the end of the world?
It ended when you said good-bye.
Haven't heard that song for quite a while.
To answer your question; To remind us that a new day has come and the pain, triumph or foolishness of yesterday is gone.

Psalm 19: 1-6
The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of His hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge.
There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.
Their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens He has pitched a tent for the sun,
which is like a bridegroom coming forth from His
pavillon,
like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is hidden from it's heat.

When the weather's good, the sun does a fine job - it shines through and through. It's a different story though when the weather's at its worst, you'll be singing a different tune. ..."raindrops keep falling on my head..."

Actually sun is twinkling, because sun is considered as a star.

Nature. That is how it works. Some days are sunny. Others are cloudy. Some days are beautiful. Other days are stormy.
Weather is like life. We have good days and bad. Don't let the bad ones keep you down cause you know there will be another good day soon!
