He looks really thin to me??? what should he weigh?? I know muscle weighs more than fat-i just can't see him needing to lose weight.

He is very fit(he runs and lifts weights) and does not appear to have "extra" body fat

Your son sounds fine. My son is 6'2" and 180lbs and works out. He is in great shape and is at an excellent height to weight ratio.

What kind of sport? If its not wrestling, than more than likely he needs to reduce his body fat percentage. According to the BMI calculator he could lose 30 lbs and still be "healthy."

It seems pretty dumb, though.

Haha. Apparently your coach want him to be an 0lympian, then. Either way, there is very little calorie loss in weightlifting. I'm sure he doesn't appreciate your concern, but hey, you love him.

maybe because he needs to be fitter and loosing weight can be more easier to get fitter
