Yes. You can be heterosexual if you are celibate, and the same goes for if you are bisexual or homosexual. Celibacy only concerns not having sex, while hetero-, ****-, and bi- are the preferences that people have.

No, being celibate is not what makes you gay. Being celibate is a decision that you make with your life. Saving something for someone who will be special in your live wether for same sex or not does not make you gay

Being gay is being sexually attracted to only the same sex.

Having an attraction does not mean that sex is involved, so a gay person, just like a straight person, can be celibate.

Yes. Particularly if by celibate you mean, "celibate here, celibate there." The real question is: Why would you want to be?

Good question. This really speaks to an understanding of what gay "is" and "isn't." You most certainly can be gay and celibate. Being gay speaks to a biological awareness of one's self, including, but certainly not limited to sexual orientation. It has to do with who one is most comfortable with: who one may want to have as a life partner. How one views ones self. Celibacy speaks to the act of sexual intimacy...the operative word being "act" ie a behavior. So, if you agree with me on the definitions of these two concepts then it is no great leap to understand that while someone can be gay they may choose not to engage in a sexual behavior....this choice can be from a variety of reasons, not just religious.

A person is gay not because of how many times they have sex or when's the last time they had sex (meaning celibate), but because of the way their brain is wired.
If you are attracted to men, and look at pictures of men instead of women when you are surfing porn, then you are gay.

The question might make more sense if it was phrased differently. As in "Can you be celibate if you are gay?".

Sure! Being celibate has nothing to do with who you are attracted to. Many (if not most) Catholic priests maintain their vows of celibacy but virtually every one of them will tell you that they are sexually attracted to people nonetheless. Who you are attracted to would determine your sexual preference even though you choose to not act on your desires.
