Why is this not reported to the police? Do you believe they should serve prison time? Does this effect your trust of the church?

I'm going out on a limb here, but I would guess, as your question is worded, that they are against it.

Previously, it was not reported in an effort by those whose leadership might be adversely effected, to cover it up. That happens a lot less frequently now that it has become public knowledge that this has been going on.

They should be held accountable and answerable to the law on the same terms as anyone else who breaches their trust to commit this type of offense.

It should effect your trust in people, not the institution of the church. There are bad people in all facets of life.

I think Catholics believe like any other religion. They abhor the priests and want the put in jail. Also, all religions (except the sickest) feel it is a break in trust with their ministers if they molest their children. You only hear about the Catholic Church, but there are plenty of news stories about all the other religions. Only Catholic priests get the press since the Catholic church is so big.

why do you focus on just the Catholic priests? Child molesters are in rvery religion and trade. they all deserve prison.
