Teleportation, Is Quantum teleportation the only way? Matter ---> Energy ---> Matter?

If all matter is energy, then is it theoretically possible to convert all of someones/somethings physical matter into energy, transfer it somewhere, and reconstruct it into matter? I know this would be massive amounts of energy to deal with, but could it be done? This would be far different from cloning and destroying the original like Quantum teleportation does.

Actually, quantum teleportation does not transport energy or matter, nor does it allow communication of information at faster than light speeds.

Quantum teleportation, or entanglement-assisted teleportation, is a technique that transfers a quantum state to an arbitrarily distant location using a distributed entangled state and the transmission of some classical information.

This means that we are only transferring information about the quantum state of a quantum system by observing the quantum state of another quantum system that is entangled with the original quantum system. The keyword here is "entangled", which in quantum physics means that quantum states of the two systems are related or connected.

So unfortunately quantum teleportation is not related at all to the teleportation of physical matter as you are describing.

Discovery Channel had a segment on a similar question yesterday. Currently, there's no way to convert energy back into the original matter from which it came, but scientists never close the door on any concept.

since one proton, neutron or electron is identical to any other given proton neutron or electron, why bother going matter->energy->matter?

if you can scan something in that detail and reconstruct it, why not just clone it... and maybe shoot your original self to give the impression of teleportation.... then convert your dead self to energy to pay for the bills
