Whenever politicians regardless of what race come out and say we will create a tougher law for this offense or bring back execution alot of black people are against it because they feel that will hurt more black men. However isnt it putting more black men in jail or on death row who kill a way to save more black men from either going into a life of crime or ending up dead. Wont society get saved that way?

One thing I like about males (black, white, brown, yellow , etc) being in prison is that they're not out there fathering future criminals.

I teach in a prison and I can't tell how many times I hear these guys brag about how many kids they have, often from different women. One student of mine (white)was barely 20 and he already had two kids and one on the way. When I sugested there were ways to prevent pregnancy, he told me that he wanted to keep on "making his babies"

Of course most of these guys are unable to support their children which means we taxpayers are probably stuck with supporting them.

The problem is the war on the black family thanks to welfare. The lack of a father figure in most of the homes, will cause the young black males to look for a father figure out there. Far too many of them end up joining a street gang. With the single mother working to pay bills there is not enough time for focusing on the family. Their is also a lack of the community valuing the educational system, or poor educational schools in the neighborhoods. Even when someone makes it big through the educational way, we will hear sellout, or trying to be white. Ever noticed that the media really never calls these people doctor. example, DR. condelliza rice, DR. King

Wow, your cart is WAY before your horse on this one.

The reason the black community is often against tougher laws is that it is a statistically provable fact that black defendants receive harsher sentences, are more often convicted, are less able to afford good attorneys (other than OJ), and are treated less fairly in general by the justice system than white defendants. Black men are arrested far more often than white men for the very same crimes and the very same behavior.

In other words, the system is not fair. If you were being asked to compete in a foot race with one foot tied behind you, would you want the rules of the race to become even MORE difficult than they already were?

The criminal justice system give harsher sentencing for "black" crimes. For instance, the punishment for selling crack is harsher than the punishment for selling straight cocaine. Many are fighting to make the punishment for cocaine equal to crack. Blacks are simply fighting for equal treatment in the justice system. As it is now, the justice system is harsher towards blacks. The system should be respond to criminals in a justly and equally regardless of skin color. That will be better for society.

Black males tend to get a harsher punishment for certain crimes... HOWEVER, as Bill Cosby stated many times...JUST DON'T COMMIT THE CRIME! So yes, I think the black community are lenient on black male criminals. Instead of fighting for lesser punishment with the legal system, they should concentrate on educating the young black males and teach them NOT to commit crimes. Educate the black men and women not to have babies out of wedlock (70% of black babies are born out of wedlock). Educate, educate, educate! Stop blaming the "system."

Will there ever be a day when people are judged only by their character and not the color of their skin, religion, or gender? Justice is supposed to be blind so as not to establish consideration for anyone but the individual character. Does that happen, no. But shouldn't we fight harder to just make everyone the same under the law instead of segregating the issue.

No, that's not the way it works. People get mad because when police crack down on crime they go into low income neighborhoods and arrest lots of minorities. there are rich people who commit a lot of the same crimes that never get caught since there isn't a cop on every street corner in their neighborhood.

no, jurors are more likely to be more harsh on colored people anyway and you are assuming that a greater punishment will lead to less crime, then why do countries that don't practice capital punishment have lower crime rates?
