twisted plants?

i need to design a building for homework based or inspired by a plant, i have the idea of it but can't find a plant that looks like it, i was thinking of a plant that twists up but not corkscrew like intwines. anythoughts? thankz

Are you perhaps thinking of a Mangrove tree? I think that does what you're thinking of.
