okay. here's my situation. I have a brain injury but i've decided that my life is not over! I have been going to a psychosocial club, but I need variety! I need different people! I am going to check out a clubhouse for people with disabilities, but I am more then a disability! Where can I find things to do (art classes, etc) in my area (zipcode: 11214) I want to get out and be apart of life again!

Dont just join things for people with disabilities. You are your own person not just a diabled person. Decide what you like to do. Classes at a local college either for credit or just for fun things, docet at a local attraction that is accessible, mentor for a school child, disabled athletic team, volunteer for local politician, volunteer for charitable organization that you like.

I agree with the previous comment. You're not just a disability. I have bi-polar disorder and while I'm not afraid to admit that I got tired of other people thinking I should join clubs that just relate to my diagnosis instead of me as a person. A wiser person than I once said if you have trouble going to the party bring the party to you. Even if you only have a small apartment invite some friends over for a movie night and order out for pizza. After doing this awhile your friends may take you out more too. Regardless you need to develop and keep your social ties as strong as you can. Nothing is more depressing then isolation. I'm not saying private time is always bad but there are some days we need the people we care for around us.
