I'd agree with the others that since you're separated, you don't have a business w/ his sex life. He is not considered cheating, just preserving his privacy. Men need sex as much as they need food so don't be surprised if he does have somebody else. He lied to avoid conflict, knowing you're going to be upset.On the other hand, those condoms and lube might also be for when you two get together...he might just get lucky, who knows...

Has he lied to you in the past? Your trust must have been broken with him in the past for you to be suspicions of him. It certainly would appear to me he is having sex outside your relationship. One tip off to me is...if he is doing the "self love, and goes so far as to use lubricant and condoms why have them by the bed where your son could find them, or you? The "by the bed" tell me its not always "planned-like self love is". I think he is prepared to have sex, and probable has, with other women.

No, your thoughts are logical and his explanations are not. Still, I suppose "lying" is his way of sparing your feelings...so even though you're annoyed with his veracity, try to see from his pint of view why he thought doing so was worth it.
