If you're trying to get off heroin, there are a ton of free methadone clinics in NYC...not sure where you live, but I am sure there are some in your neighborhood. I would try a google search.

Methadone for what? Pain?
I'd go to an acupuncturist. They're great with relieving pain.
I'd give you better advice if I know what methadone is, but I don't. Is that one of the meds Target & Wal-Mart have selected for their $4 program? Check it out.

Wendy has it right - contact your local health department.
If you can afford opiates, you can afford methadone.
You'll find a way if you want to.....

I would recommend calling or visiting your local health offices and asking if there are any free or drastically reduced cost rehabilitation clinics around, or a doctor who can help you safely come off of drugs. They won't call the police or anything on you, they'll just direct you to someone who can help.
