I have been questioning my penis for a long time and why it never looked like my fathers in the bath or my friends in the shower. I have been thinking about this for a long time, is there anyone like me. I am 15 now I've never talked to my parents about being circumsized should I? How would I bring it up? My father is circumsized Will I really lose a lot of feeling in my penis. I just feel really unsecure in the shower, before I get in I always pull back the foreskin, which stays back most of the time so it looks like I'm cut. Also when I'm with a girl I get really uncomfortable and think what will she think of it? I try to leave the foreskin pulled back all the time so she wouldn't notice. Don't american girls think uncut is gross? What should I do???

Well, I'm similar to you, but I'm 18. I really think you're worrying too much. Trust me, if you feel insecure about something, you will feel bad or really shy about it. On the other side, if you have confidence in yourself, you'll feel okay with it. Take into consideration all the benefits that you have, too. Also take into consideration that circumcision isn't almost universal like it was a few decades ago. Your parents didn't circumcise you for a reason, either because they didn't want to put you through the pain or force a permanent surgery onto you... perhaps your dad wished he was uncircumcised. Circumcision also has disadvantages; it's not all benefits. For instance, you shouldn't try to hide the fact that you're uncircumcised. At most, some guys may ask about it. All guys are born that way, and it may even cause them to research into it (circumcision rates have fallen drastically, after all).

The USA is the last developed nation doing circumcision on a significant scale without medical or religious reasons. That means Europe and Japan (and Latin America and China, for that matter) don't circumcise. Circumcision rates in Australia and Canada are low, and in Africa... it varies by nation/tribe. Here's a worldwide map that gives you a general idea of where circumcision is common:
http://www.circumstitions.com/Maps.html

In the United States, circumcision rates vary by state, race... and other factors, like the year you were born. For the most part, the West Coast has the lowest circumcision rates, with some states as low as 14% now. Compare that to national circumcision rates being around 90% back in the 1960s and 70s. US data:
http://www.cirp.org/library/statistics/USA/staterates2004/

When erect they look very similar since the foreskin slides back. Don't worry about it; both are quite common.

On the other hand, consider the advantages that you have.

The lubricated foreskin (on the inside... like your eyelids) slides up and down during sex and masturbation to stimulate the head.

Studies have found that circumcision reduces sensitivity (this article also mentions how it has lost popularity in the USA in recent times):
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,285532,00.html

And despite being more sensitive, you still last in the same six minute range (average) that circumcised guys do:
http://www.blackwell-synergy.com/doi/abs/10.1111/j.1743-6109.2005.00070.x

Makes masturbation more difficult:
http://www.blackwell-synergy.com/doi/abs/10.1111/j.1464-410X.2006.06646.x

Which makes sense, that's how it was made popular in the USA:
http://english.pravda.ru/science/health/27-03-2006/77873-circumcision-0

Increases erectile dysfunction rates:

I don't recommend it, you will probably lose sensation and recovery will be hard too. Most American girls especially younger ones are over the "uncut is gross" stigma (it's becoming more common now) and if they think that then they are mean and superficial - would you ask them to get labia surgery? If a girl has a problem with that then dump her immediately. I'm not from the US so we don't have the same stigma as much but I have no problem with uncut guys, in fact studies show it feels better for the woman. Oh, and you won't be having showers at school for ever. You're luck you've been left natural.

You should do a lot of research about the operation. Have you ever liked having a foreskin? Does it feel nice when you move it around? Can you keep clean? If yes then I wouldn't go through with it. Anyway good luck with your decision.

Don't do it! You will lose out on physical pleasure for the rest of your life. Once it's cut off, you can't put it back on, and you are stuck with a penis that is less able to give pleasure to you and to your partner. No GIRL worth your time will reject you, and most WOMEN prefer uncut. You will have a lot more years of trying to please women than you will fooling around with teenaged girls. Young girls find the penis gross whether cut or not -- but after a few years they learn how much fun it is, and then they will prefer a natural penis because it just plain works better.

Take a look at http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AmziN62Ok63e1.d4PQVkfzXsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20070101193846AA385UM -- a young man who had chosen to be circumcised says, " I had it done at 20, because I was stupid enough to be convinced to have it done for NON-medical reasons, it definatly makes sex pretty lousy. I consider myself blessed however. Unlike most American men, I at least got to have good sex a few times.

...oh and by the way, iv never had a single problem. NOT ONE which if you do your research, is the case for 99% of men. God I cant believe I was so stupid."

Keep your foreskin -- in a few years you will be extremely glad you have it.

You might be different compared to your dad and friends, but the fact is that over 85% of the men on this planet are the same as you - uncircumcised. If you're only considering it so that you "fit in" then thats a bad reason. If youre that embarassed about it, do what you do anyway and just keep your foreskin pulled back.
And as far as the girls go, any one you end up with shouldnt care about whether youve got a foreskin or not, she should like/love you for who you are! Not what your equipment looks like!

Dude! I fixed my parents screw up at 18! The BS that you loose sensativity is all a lie! Sex is 100% better when you are circumcised! Don't believe all the foreskin fetishists on here! Most don't even live in the USA or are uncut and havent got a clue! I went to my parents, but my dads from Europe and wouldn't listen! So on my 18th birthday I paid with it with his credit card! Tell your dad you want to get circumcised, he should have paid for it when you were born, now it will cost him!

Dude your gona get a lot of responses to your question you need to look at what ever will suit you best. First of all you need to be proud of your body and what you have. I have said this before If you go out with a girl she should be going out with you not your unit if it is a breaking point in your relationship then she isnt worth going out with she was to shallow to accept you for you not your unit. Kick her to the curb and find somone to appreate you for you. Lockerrooms dude your buds are your buds becase of you not your unit. All of my buds know i am uncirced and yes there was comments at first but they are my friends because of me not my unit. Just becase i am uncircumsized doesnt mean i cant play soccer, surf, skate, hang out with them. it has nothing to do with our friendships. You cant be so hung up on being uncut you are the few of us dudes that are the way we are suppost to be. Jorge will post with a lot of info on being uncired Harriet is also pro uncirc. Then there will be those chicks who are only used to seeing cut dudes and think it is the way to be but they do not know cause they dont have units of thier own. cutting the foreskin of a unit would be the same as cutting the labia of the vagina Which is performed in some contries today. Dude be proud of you and your unit your body and have a great self image dont be down on yourself and be happy.
One last thing Dudes dont care if your cut or not if they are educated they know and shouldnt have a problem with it

Good luck dude
Peace out

A lot of people think it's more attractive, but then a lot of it is cultural----is everyone around you circumcised? You get used to whatever you're around.

A lot of people say it's healthier to be circumcised because it's easier to keep clean and there are fewer chances for things like yeast to grow. This is important for the women in your life, too, since it's easy to give it to a girl. (But I certainly hope you're using condoms every time!)

If you're uncomfortable with it the way it is, I say have it cut. Your dad should understand. Just tell him basicly what you've told us here.

If you DO do it, make sure you talk to the Dr. about the scar. Tell him at your age you'll be concerned about how it looks and ask him to take lots of tiny stitches rather than just a few big ones, then the scar won't show.

You'll loose a little feeling on the head of your penis, but believe me, your girlfriend will appreciate that 'cause you'll be able to last longer. :)

I very much agree with Jesse's reply . The main advantages of a circumcised penis are better health and hygiene, and no, you will not lose much sensitivity. In my experience in talking with other women, most do prefer their men to be circumcised but it is a matter of personal choice if there is no pressing medical reason for it to be done. The best advice I can give you is talk it over with your parents and your doctor
for now and see what they have to say.

You will lose most of your nerve endings and pleasure receptors if you have your foreskin removed.
