I wouldn't know how to put any quantitative facts on that statement, but I would venture to say its true or at least somewhat true.

In general, there is more life in a TROPICAL rainforest than in most deserts but there is a lot of life in a desert, especially where there is water. Square yard to acre -- maybe, maybe not.

All generalizations are untrue. Especially this one.

this statement is 100% true.rain forests account for more than 80% of the species diversity.it is because of its optimum temperature and adequate moisture-the key factor for this biodiversity.in more serious note,life also includes small bacteria and micro-organisms which by any means would surpass the no. of organisms present in the harsh deserts
