I get references and it seems the dumbest of dumb mechanics get picked to work on my trucks. I have had nothing but bad experiences and what more do you do, I get references, I see the bad parts and they still screw me over....

So now, I have a 2001 F250 4x4 diesel that is leaking God knows what, think its transfer case fluid not sure. It isn't motor oil, it isn't brake fluid and its a standard tranny.

So I get the ball joints repaired yesterday, take the truck out, it was wobbly down the road, thought well I might have to get used to it. So this morning I go to leave on a 400 mile trip and there it is , pissing in my driveway fluid. So I get underneath and a seal that surrounds the bar coming from the wheel towards the middle of the truck, is hanging 1/2 way off and fluid all under it.

I check the other side, normal looking. I call a friend, says its bad, don't drive to Nebraska, will seize your wheel up.

So now, what other damage have these morons caused to my truck. I drove it around town last night and to the barn etc. So what other things do I need to watch for for damage. I have no idea what this seal is, thats not my friggin job. If I did work like this, I would be fired.

If you guys have ideas on what to look for , for damage, I would greatly appreciate it. I am so tired of crappy mechanics that would of caused a probably fatal accident had i left and not seen the oil leak underneath.

So I missed my trip, is it fair to ask for labor expenses back? What is fair to ask for in reimbursement for them to totally ruin my trip now and being so careless?

Sorry for your bad luck bro. I would definately call them tomorrow and tell them what's going on and request they tow it back at their expense. Ride with the tow truck driver to the shop so when they lift it up on the lift you can look at it together, that will make them feel dumb also if it's something they did. If it's something they 'repaired', have them fix it properly and get a ride home. As far as getting any money from them, dont count on it. I would stay with national chain repair facilities in the future that have corporate you can contact. Good luck.

Sorry to hear you're still having trouble with your vehicle.
It's hard to find a good garage here in London too.
When I first got my vehicle I found a local garage with the
facilities to accommodate large vehicles and they did
good work at first and treated me courteously if rather
patronisingly. When I got used to driving the vehicle and
learnt to reverse through their narrow entrance myself,
they clearly resented seeing a woman handle a large
vehicle as well as a man, and the quality of the work
deteriorated. When the new exhaust system blew again,
I found another garage which seems ok so far.
What I'd like to know is, why do I have to play the helpless
little woman in order not to be treated like a freak by these
male chauvinist mechanics?!
Sorry this is no help at all, but I get so wound up by these
people!
I do sympathise, and I hope you find a decent mechanic
to get your truck fixed.

Try a non-dealership mechanic. They by and large paintings on many extraordinary makes of automobiles so they have obvious extra varieties of disorders and could also be ready to diagnose what's unsuitable together with your vehicle. The coverage does not care if it runs or no longer.

Well this really sucks.

Auto mechanics is actually the only thing my ex-husband was good for...(I used to say that and sex, until I remarried and discovered that sex is actually supposed to last longer than 180 seconds. I was very young and naiive when I married the first time...)

Did you get references from other towing folk? That's where I'd start asking...like at your shows and stuff. And I'd definitely insist that they fix it and make it right.

some rookie yanked your axel seal out while doing your ball joints huh? it happens, but its no big deal if it's still on the rack. and you catch it before reassembally I'm suprised you dident take it straight back to them when you felt the wobble. I'd go with Will S on this one. an 01 and it already needed ball joints,Yikes! Oh wait it's a ford, never mind.
