log (6 is the base) 12, means:
6^x = 12
xlog 6 = log 12
x = (log 12)/(log 6) = 1.3869

log(base 6)12 is
12=6^x
Then you "hit it with a log"
and get log12=log6^x
Using the Power Property, you can rewrite this as:
log12= xlog6

(log12)/(log 6) =x
1.3869=x
