IM english and im patriotic, but when people who are american start telling me how much better the Us is and giving me about a 5 minute speech on how much they love theyre country and how much better it is its just annoying.

Through education and media they have been programmed to think only holy and positive about their country. They are made to be totally incapabe to think by themselves. The standard of ethics and principle of good and bad taught to them are with refernce to US only. It is same as a religious person worship only God and can't even think of worshipping satan.

I think that most Americans are starting to realize that patriotism is just another word for Nationalism, and we have spent a lot of time and history to stop people from having blind faith in Nationalism. If we do things to be proud of, that's fine, but being vocally loyal to a country that is blindly driving fear into the world is not patriotism, it's Evil.
You have every reason to be offended by this trollop. I'm a veteran of the American military, and I'M offended by it.

I don't know who you have that's doing this to you or if you are just taking others opinions in a defensive manner. I'm American and I'm patriotic. However I don't deem myself as any better than any other country or person on this planet, most of the people I know are the same as that frame of thinking. Most Americana's I know are patriotic and why, is because they are proud of where they are from. I don't think it's any different than say a person or state rooting for their states football team. They aren't claiming to be better, they are just showing support of where they are from. Sorry you feel this way, but most Americans aren't patriotic to profess to be "better". Myself is because I am proud of where I am from, and I am supportive of where I am from. If i had been from another country, I'd be supportive of that country.

I am a Patriotic American and Love my country,perhaps its because for us all there is no place like home,but a person should get out and discover that there are many FREE and WONDERFUL places to visit and live,like the UK,I have had the pleasure to visit the UK many times and My sister has lived there for many years.I have visited other not so nice places too...

My believe is that your medias are controlled and that they constantly present propagandeous messages about how great american are. Keeps some of the population from thinking that what their country can do something wrong. Patriotic is just another term for brainwash.

We love our country because that is how we've been raised, hearing the story of Independence from England and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. We are also always being told "do you know how lucky you are to live in America? Other people dont have what you have" We are proud of our country but not always proud of how it acts politically. Some of us feel the need to make up for that by convincing everybody else.

sorry i am american and i dont brag about this country and no it is not the best country by anymeans.but alot of people think that there country is the best easy and it is not.but to answer ur question yeah i they are so patriotic because of all the technological advancments in this country and none in others which i really dont think is true.actually america is the fattest country in the world.LOL

Well they are of the mistaken belief that they have it better in America than anywhere else in the world. America is no where near the best standard of living in the world....but they don't know that.
Sense of superiority makes them so patriotic.

Actualy, I don't know why my fellow country people are so da**ed patriotic, I think it's because they have a false sense of progress, they think we are the best nation around, when the truth is we are the:
fattest
meanest
least educated (of the educated)
poorest(amount non poor nations)
uncultered (we don't have any one cultur other than smoosh)
messed up
nation around, so I think were in a decline, and I guess my fellow americans don't agree with me.
