I have the name Kayla Victoria as our favorite name for if we have a girl next. It has so much meaning to both of us since it means crown Laurel and Laurel was my husband's grandfather's name who passed away and the two of them were very close. AND Kay is my grandmother's first name who I am very close to. Victoria is my Mom's name also and we are more than just Mother and daughter, more like good friends.
I just saw a site online that says Kayla is 26 in popularity and the ending's are both A sounds so I don't know now about this name now that we both like so much.

I think that Kayla Victoria is a beautiful name, and since it has so much significance to it, I would definately use it.
I don't think that #26 is too popular. Remember that though it is high in the numbers, more and more parents are picking names that aren't popular. that means that fewer babies have the top names. For Kayla only 0.39% of the babies born last year got this name. So, that's less than half a percent! That's not much at all.
The popular names from when we were little (like Jennifer) were above 3% of the babies of that year, so really there shouldn't be too many Kayla around. I would check the stats for your area if it is really a concern, but it shoudn't be.
Remember, we want our children to stand out, but we also want them to fit in. She will do both with Kayla.
You picked that name with Love and I am sure that she will LOVE it too!

BQ:nicely I in easy words understand a million Kayla, so i don't think of it is too standard. i understand various of Layla's in spite of the indisputable fact that. The Kayla i understand, is a cutie pie! really! she is! she's in easy words 3. BQ2: Samantha & Lauren i imagine Kayla is an excellent call yet i'm no longer certain if i'd have Noelle as a center call. Kayla Savannah Kayla Aubree Kayla Samantha Kayla Avery Kayla Michelle Kayla Nicole Kayla Sabrina Kayla Lauren Kayla Jean

I think just Kay is less trendy of a name, and sounds stronger for an adult female. This is just my opinion, Kayla is cute but I always think of the adult having the name. It's true about the K and Ky names being the most popular thing going on, and it's been that way for a while, so if uniqueness is important I would look to a different name.

It definitely would be for me. Not only is it nearly top 25 -- that site is correct, by the way (I'll include a link to the SSA list below) -- but it's also part of a HUGE trend of similar names at the moment. Kayleigh, Kayley, Kailey, Kayly, Kaylyn, Kailynn, Kyla, Kylie, Kylee, Kyleigh, Kaya, Kaia, Keira, Kira, Kyra, etc. (all with various spellings/misspellings, as demonstrated). There are plenty more. LOL So it SEEMS even more popular than it might be by itself, because the sound-alikes are everywhere!
If it helps the decision any, Kayla is generally considered a meaningless combination of the popular Kay sound (touched on above LOL) and -la suffix. It's true that it can occasionally be used as a form of Kaila, but even that has lost its actual meaning and would simply be seen as just another "Kay-la" spelling (given the equally-popular misspelling trend already mentioned). If you honestly want the "crown of Laurel" meaning, the actual, original Kelila form seems your best bet. You might even use Kay as a nickname, to further tie in your grandmother. ;)
Hope that helps, and good luck.

My little sister's name is Kayla... It is pretty popular around here.... BUT, I wouldn't let the popularity of a name base your decision on naming your child that...Especially if the name means so much to you....It is an older name (Not OLD).. But older I mean by 12-20 years old as I know a lot of people in that age group with that name....The thing that I wouldn't do is name my child something that is very popular today...like if everyone is naming their babies Kaiden (which around here that name seems to be the big hit of the year)...But anyhow, I've always loved the name Kayla and my little sister loves her name too!

I only know one person whose name is Kayla. I think it's a good name for your child because of all the meaning behind it. I can understand not wanting an extremely popular name, but the name seems to have great importance to you. And Kayla really isn't that common. It's not Mary or Elizabeth.

It sounds as if you've put a lot of thought into this name, and it seems to have a lot more meaning to you than just naming your child "Kayla" just for the sake of being trendy.
I think Kayla Victoria is a beautiful name. I wouldn't change a thing.
