I have a 2001 Craftsman garage door opener
model# 139.53975SRT1,
serial# 51314100282
120 volts
5.0 amps
1/2 HP

When pushing the keypad outside it opens and closes but you have to hold the ENTER button. When using the wireless button it opens w/o holding but will not close it at all. When using the inside wall button, one push will open it but again to close it we have to hold it.
Can ANYONE please help me fix this? Also if you can give me a link to troubleshooting for future issues that may arise with this particular model. I'd appreciate it.
Thank you in advance.

sounds like your photo eyes on the bottom of the door. I believ on that one you should have a amber eye and a green eye. The amber eye should ALWAYS be on. If it is not check connections in back of opener, or check wires. If it is on look at the other eye. Is it on solid green? Make sure it is not flickering. If it is not on or flickering make sure nothing is blocking the path between two eyes, and try adjusting them. If this does not work you may have bad wires or eyes.
