The Democrats have more seats, the Speaker is a Democrat and the Majority Leader who controls the order of business is a democrat. How much control do you need?
I don't think the Republicans lie although I accept that the Democrats can't force through legislation but they can sure delay debate and decision over any Republican issues they care to!

Unemployment went up below both the first President Bush and the 2d President Bush. It went down below Clinton. The economic equipment has declined a lot faster contained in the superb few months of the 2d President Bush than now; even if it isn't increasing, that's genuinely more advantageous sturdy. to placed this yet in a distinct way, Reagan (30 years in the past) changed into the superb time that the commercial equipment did more advantageous with a Republican President than with a Democrat. The unusual aspect is that economic concept predicts the different: The economic equipment theoretically might want to do worse below Democratic Presidents, in spite of the indisputable fact that the most important strengthen changed into below Clinton, and worse below Republicans, in spite of the indisputable fact that the Reagan years were the in easy words time that it ever has.

The Republicans In government and out know they are on a sinking ship from their last 8 years in power and especially since the ReaGUNomics began in 1980.
When you join the Republican party, you have to take an oath to NEVER TELL THE TRUTH, and for Christ sakes, DON"T EVER PAY TAXES.
They must have to blame someone other than themselves if they any possible chance of getting elected in '08.
But they are finding out in the polls that they cannot fool all the people all the time.

Apparently you have no idea how Congress works or you'd know why. The Party in Power can call, or not call legislation, and they have majority control of all committees. That's huge control.

TECHNICALLY you are correct. The democrats don't control Congress, they simply have a majority. But even with a majority, they still can't follow through on the promises they made when they were elected a year ago! Hense their low approval rating! What did you expect??

Neither, I think they just are taking advantage of the fact that most voters are ignorant of the facts - the dems control the agenda but without a veto proof majority of 2/3 they cannot control what makes it into law past our fearless leader.
Having said that, the dems in my opinion have a low approval rating because they keep backing down, they should just keep passing the laws and letting junior veto them until he figures out the meaning of the work cooperation.

The 110th Congress is supposed to be judged by their accomplishments regardless of party. A clear indication that they (both parties) are more interested in the King of the Hill game than insuring this country has good legislation. This is a shame for both parties and by replacing a few even within the same party it would send a very good message.

What they have "control" of is what bills get discussed and what ones die on the congressional floor. They decide the agenda, thus, they do have control. Speaking of our "do-nothing" congress. How about that 11% approval rating (lowest in history)??
