My art project is 'curious objects' and from what research / work I've done so far I want to use toys and/or board game pieces.

I have collected old board games and lego bricks etc but am still decideding what I can do with them on my final project. I am thinking about maybe a sculpture or 3D work on canvas.

Does anyone have any ideas that could help me?
Thank you! :)

You should pick out different toys, that are based on gender...pink versus blue for example....or barbie versus tonka truck, and make a "sculpture" of something/someone that is gender neutral. That would be really interesting, and would be commenting on the world around us.

i'd go sculpture - there's an amazing scene from that manga classic, Akira, where the psychic kids caged in that government lab are checking out the new guy, and one of them makes a giant teddy bear out of hundreds of tiny toys - there is something deeply poignant, archetypal even, about the shots as the huge teddy bear disintegrates into the detritus of childhood...i liked it anyhoo.=)

I saw a roundabout in Wales made up of a collection of road signs and other signs. Maybe this work by Pierre Vivant will inspire you.
