About 20 minutes. I remember the first time I took a valium. I was bawling my eyes out and my friend gave me one, next thing I knew, I was just so completely m-e-l-l-o-w. It was great.

It takes 20-30 mins depending on how much food in your stomach. There isn't a sublingual version, though Ativan (lorazepam) does come that way. It is much shorter acting and is the preferential anxiolytic for claustrophobia/anxiety associated with undergoing an MRI
I'm curious why you post a question like this in the AltMed room since Valium (diazepam) is a prescription benzodiazepine, and MRI is a state of the art imaging technique. I thought the AltMed crowd eschewed anything smacking of science.
What kind of useful advice do you expect to get from the crystal power megavitamin chakra point healing touch crowd?

20 min on empty stomach, but uif yuo are nervous, have them put a towel over your face, then just imagine you are in a great big room, not a small tunnel, running out of oxygen and ready to be crushed to death.

If it is sublingual (dissolve under the tongue) it should work within minutes. If is is the swallow variety...........about one hour.
