All the candidates seem to be so far one way or the other, the middle has no representation. Can a truly moderate candidate hope to win national office?

Unfortunately John McCain is the only candidate that has the ability to bridge the gap between parties and just make the country strong by cooperation. It looks as though that ainta gonna happen.

Rudy is right in the middle (well actually a Liberal with an R after his name, way to Liberal for Conservative Republicans), but you are right about the major Democrat candidates, ultra-Leftists. I just wish there was a true Conservative besides Fred Thompson running, the Republican candidates are way to moderate.

Why would you want a President who can't stick to a set of core beliefs? How can you lead w/out such a set? No matter which way you lean, it's better to have your own mind than to be swayed so easily by others' opinions.

It's possible....but wishy-washy people seldom have the personality to win office. Generally people want someone that stands for something.
