The Mayans Calendar, which is not predicting the end of the world in 2012, but the start of a new era on December 21st, 2012. The year 2012 marks the end of the "Great Cycle." When it came to mathematics, time and calendars, the Maya were geniuses. Believing that time repeated itself in cycles.

I actually did some reading on this last week, 2012 is the beginning of the next era in Mayan belief. We are in (I think) the 5th 400 year cycle since the beginning of the current Mayan calendar and there are observations and predictions in Mayan writing that have to do with things happening in the the 7th and 8th eras (which would be over 1,000 years from now). SO EVEN THE MAYANS did not think the world would end in 2012! Don't be like those people who give away everythng they own and sit in the dark waiting for the end of the world every so often, only to have to try and get everything back the next day! - it's total B.S.

The Mayan calendar doesn't end in 2012 or on any other date. Calendars don't end because time doesn't end. The calendar is beginning another 400 year cycle, but it's not the last cycle. The calendar goes on forever.
So the world isn't going to end and everyone isn't going to die, at least not because of the Mayan calendar.

It's the end of the Mayan calendar and here are some scientific events occurring that year (click on the link in the source area to find out more):
* Galactic Alignment
* Pole shift
* Earth Changes
* Dwarf Galaxy Sagittarius
* Solar Magnetic Reversal
* Solar Maximum
My personal feeling is that this is another Y2K thing. It's not the end of the world. 2013 will come just like any other year and all the people who claimed the end was near will feel like idiots. I could be wrong, but I'm not. :)

Nostradamus predicted an alignment of signs, planets...and whatever else. Claiming this would be something catastrophic. The mayan calendar ends on Dec. 21, 2012...about a week ago there were two shows on about both Nostradamus and the myan thing; I think it was on the History channel, I wasn't paying a lot of attention to what they had to say. I would not recommend telling anyone about this, because these "End of Worlders" will cause an uproar!!

It is the end of the current calender we use - the mayan. Someone will start again when we wake the day after its end. There are spiritual changes in place and many are seeing this year as an accumulation of that change. The world is definitely in need of a spiritual awakening - its to be hoped this will occur.

dont believe this bull. no one knows the days or the time that anything significant like that is going to happen. your best bet is to dismiss anyone or anything that is claiming a definite time. the bible even says that Jesus himself does not know the day or the time of the great tribulation...that only the Father knows. Global warming is a fact...if we dont stop destroying our planet...there will be no planet. when that exact time will be? no one knows...rest your mind dear.

In all likelihood, not much will happen in 2012.
However, in 2013, there will be an awful lot of redfaced prophets of doom who will be trying to backpedal.
