He has been released due to the fact that he failed a drug test and the Wellness Program. Eugene was a great wrestler, but the WWE had new talent and no room on the script for him. It sucks to see him go

Im pretty sure he's been released.
Even Vince had to accept that the character was a waste of time and talent. Nick Dinsmore is actually a very good wrestler, also im sure they realise it would be virtually impossible to change the Eugene character, i hope he doesnt get brought back as another character because with everyone being"In the know" he'd get slaughtered

He was released by the WWE in September of this year. He is a writer for Wrestlezone.com. He also has been placed as head official in charge of Derby City Wrestling, a subsidiary of Ohio Valley Wrestling.
So basically, he has moved beyond wrestling to a very lower-level executive position.
