These are poppies sold to raise funds for the Royal British Legion who care for and support ex servicemen and their families. The poppies commemorate the soldiers who lost their lives in WW! in the poppy fields of Flanders, and who are remembered in November each year... The remembrance and respect now applies to WW2 and other conflicts since.. The remembrance day is the 11th November when each year a remembrance service is held at the cenotaph in Whitehall, London at 11am..and is attended by the sovereign and other royal members and the leading politicians. Many ex service men and women also take part in the ceremony.
